About Mike
My approach to therapy is about warmth, curiosity, humour and empathy. Everyone’s story is unique and deserves telling in their own voice and it can be hard to do that in the therapy room sometimes. We are more than a diagnosis or a particular problem. I bring an expertise in psychology to the room, but my clients bring an expertise in their own lives and experiences, and together we work to build a shared understanding and find pathways to recovery and growth.
I believe in rigorous, evidence-based therapies, adapted to the unique life experiences of the individual. I primarily use Cognitive Based Therapy (CBT), whilst incorporating Motivational Interviewing (MI) and Acceptance and Commitment Therapeutic (ACT) approachs when appropriate. If you have an interest in the science and philosophies behind these therapies, always feel free to ask questions in session.
I have a PhD in Clinical Psychology and over a decade of experience as a psychologist, working primarily in youth mental health, but also with adults particularly those dealing with stress and sleeping disorders.
